Roy Bahadur arranged for Dhiman's stay adjacent to teacher's quarter. The teacher, discovering Dhiman's exceptional talent in art (Drawing, painting), admits him to the Art College. Dhiman's art works mesmerizes Anjana. She falls in love with Dhiman. But Roy Bahadur arranged Anjana's marriage with his late Friend's son (Asitbaran). Anjana told Dhiman that either she will convince her father or run away with Dhiman and marry him. When Anjana told his father that she loves Dhiman, Roy Bahadur was extremely angry as Dhiman is from a low caste extremely poor family. Roy Bahadur threatened Anjana that Dhiman will face dire consequences because of his audacity. Anjana had no other choice but to tell Dhiman that she didn't love Dhiman and she asked Dhiman to go away for ever. Dhiman lost all his desire to live and returned back to his village to embrace extreme poverty. Before his death, he only wants to build a sculpture of Anjana that would immortalize his love. Anjana couldn't forget Dhiman either. Because of extreme mental anguish she became sick before her planned marriage with Asitbaran. She attempted a failed suicide. Finally she confessed to Asitbaran, that she loves Dhiman only and she can not marry Asitbaran. Looking at his grieving daughter finally Roy Bahadur gave his consent and requested the teacher (Pahari Sanyal) to bring back Dhiman. But it was too late! This is an awesome Romance. Suchitra Sen's acting makes you spellbound. But the tragic story leaves you with heavy heart.
