In this lighthearted throwback to 1960s beach movies, a genial bartender needs the help of his devoted friends (and a bit of supernatural assistance) to save the family business from his avaricious partner intent on selling out to a corporate coffeehouse chain. Eddy Anchor wants nothing more than to keep the legacy of his late father's beach bar alive. However, his financial partner, Chester Greenfield III, has other plans. With his ownership of the bar in jeopardy, Eddy needs his beach-bum pal Frankie, part-time clairvoyant Aunt Gloria, and a pair of intrepid reporters looking for a scoop to show Chester that corporate greed is not match for friends, family, and loyalty.

Good stuff....
I've seen a lot of crap.
As an aspiring amateur filmmaker I've watched a lot of other independent movies, mainly horror, as well as some comedies, and I've come to a not so startling realization... most low budget independent movies suck... and the suck hard (Bone Setter anybody? Maybe Scarecrow Slayer?).
Having said that, I was definitely apprehensive going into this movie. David Dellecese, the director of the film, went to college where I am going to college, and screened this movie there this past winter. Like I said, I was very apprehensive, but went to see this because I like supporting local independent cinema. I was very pleasantly surprised. This film made me laugh more than a lot of Hollywood comedies have done in the past five years. It was a wonderful film, full of great characters and a great story. The production quality is the film's only downfall. I, like a lot of people, don't like the look of video, but I don't hold this against the director. It's obviously cheaper to shoot on video than on film. The only other gripe I had was there was some audio issues, mainly toward the beginning of the film, where it was difficult to hear or understand what characters were saying. Again, this is just a result of low budget.
I think the reason that I liked and appreciated this movie so much is because of my understanding of the difficulties of low-budget film-making from first hand experience. For the budget that was used, you can't get much better than this product.
Overall, I will be buying this film when it is released, and David Dellecese is a wonderful filmmaker. Give this guy some money and you'll have some great cinema...
Watch this film.
