Review :
A young Russian man finishes military service and moves to Moscow to start a life and chase a girl...
I recently watched this film at the Pusan International Film Festival. I randomly chose to watch this movie and decided to go into the theater knowing absolutely nothing about it. I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed it quite a lot.
A man from a small city finishes his military service and moves to Moscow. He goes there because he wants to be with the a girl he knows from his home town.
The movie focuses on the Russian police force and the way things are done. Bribes are common and money can get you out of any situation imaginable. The main character joins the police force and uses his new found power to support his own ends.
The actors and actresses were great and the all look the part, especially the "bad" characters. They were very believable and it was easy to like most of the characters.
I liked this film for a few reasons. The soundtrack was based on a one main orchestral phrase, and it was used fittingly in many, many scenes. The actors and actresses were great and the all look the part, especially the "bad" characters. They were very believable and it was easy to like most of the characters.
There was also repetition in the dialog of many of the characters. These phrases and sentences were very effective and as the movie went on, the became much more significant and true.
This is my first review here so I don't know how much I can say without it being considered a spoiler. So I'll stop here.
